Artistic Director  - Needed ASAP!
The roles of maintaining TSCP are a little bit more free-form than in the usual theater company.  We learn as we grow and gain experience.  The mandate as administrators is not to close boundaries, but to keep doors open and the atmosphere welcoming and with an eye to the inclusion of magical/ritual work in a theatrical context.  (In short: all TSCP members have kibbutz-ing rights.)  Any person taking on a directorial role should keep this in mind.

Duties:

  • Serves as the contact person for and conducts the initial interviews for potential directors, art directors, designers and playwrights.
  • Oversees and sets standards for, supervises, and evaluates - in collaboration with TSCP playwrights/directors and art directors for plays and events - all artistic personnel including  tech directors, performers, designers, and stage managers.
  • Finds, interviews, recommends, supervises, and evaluates key technical personnel, including stage managers, production manager, and technical director
  • Attends the Core Group Dinner in January and adds meaningfully to the conversation.
  • Assists the Core Group in developing, implementing, and evaluating events for the year and presents
  • Recommends plays and events (in close collaboration with Core Group) to the full membership at the Annual Troupe Convocation in February for discussion and acceptance by the full troupe.
  • Collaborates with the Core Group and individual directors, develops plays and events.
  • Discovers, researches, and negotiates venues
  • Remains in close communications with individual directors, tech personnel and individual art directors for each play or event.
  • Collects and does the "first round" review of play and project submission before the founding writer/directors review submissions
  • Reviews and assists in the creation of all promotion material, including hands on development of print, web, radio, and alternative media
  • Acts as a spokesperson for the organization's artistic purpose via any requested speaking engagements, public and social appearances, and -- when requested -- at fund raising events and solicitations
  • Fosters the development of good relations with other cultural organizations by participating in meetings and joint activities where appropriate
  • Reports to the Core Group on a regular basis to give an update on artistic activity
  • Supervises development and maintenance of - along with the designated Core Group member -- the written procedures manual for technical and production staff
  • Attends any retreats the troupe engages in and assists in facilitation of such events.
  • Forwards misplaced paperwork to the appropriate person
